How do I make a Resources file or folder viewable by logged-in users?
You may make a Resources file or folder viewable by all logged-in users. If you provide the link to this resource to someone logged into UVACollab (with a UVA account or a non-UVA guest account), they can access the file or folder via the link.
Suggested uses of this feature:
- Share files saved in your Home site's My Resources with colleagues.
- Use a single UVACollab site as a resource repository for your courses, and provide a link to the resource repository folder in your other UVACollab sites.
- Embed images or link files in an ePortfolio that your instructors and classmates must log in to view.
Note: Be careful to review copyright restrictions on materials before making them available to all logged-in users. You can find information about web publishing and copyright on the UVA Library: Copyright and Scholarly Communications Resources page (opens new window).
Go to Resources.
Select Resources from the tool menu in your site.
Select Actions, then Edit Details.
- To the right of the Resources file or folder that you would like to make viewable to all logged-in users, select the Actions menu.
- Select Edit Details.
Note: On mobile devices or small screens, the Actions menu displays as a down arrow icon.
Select the option for all logged in users.
Under Availability and Access, select the checkbox This file is viewable by all logged in users or This folder and its contents are viewable by all logged in users (depending on whether you have selected a file or folder).
Note: Making a folder viewable by all logged in users will provide similar access to all subfolders and files within it.
At the bottom of the page, select Update.
View the new Access settings.
The Access column on the Resources list will indicate that the file or folder, and any content within a specified folder, is available to Logged in users.
Note: The Access column does not display on mobile devices or small screens.
