How do I print an assessment (i.e. test or quiz)?

You can print an assessment with or without an Answer Key.

Go to Tests & Quizzes.

Select the Tests & Quizzes tool from the Tool Menu of your site.

Select Print from the Action menu.

From the Tests & Quizzes tool home screen, select Print from the Action drop-down menu for the assessment.

Note: The Print option is available in both the Working Copies and Published Copies tabs.

Or select Print on the Questions screen.

If you are currently editing the assessment to print, select Print at the top of the Questions screen.

Select print options.

Select the content to include in the printout.  The following options are available:

  1. Show Answer Key - Include the answers for automatically-graded questions.
  2. Show Answer Key with Feedback - If you have added feedback when authoring a question, print the feedback along with the answer to the question.
  3. Show Description/Intro, Part's Title & Information - Selected by default, this option displays the title of each part of the assessment above questions in that part; if you have not edited or added any parts, Part 1 will display.  Any content added in the Description/Intro box of the Settings page will also be included.
  4. Show Numbered Sequences - Display a number in front of each question.
  5. Font Size - By default, the font size for text in the printout is Medium. To increase or decrease the font size, select the desired size from the drop-down menu.

Apply Settings.

If you made any changes to the default print settings, select Apply Settings.

Preview document to print.

Scroll down on the Print screen to preview the printout with your selected options.

Note: Some question types do not display in a printout as they do for a student taking a test.  For example, a calculated question does not print numerical values because it may present different numbers to each student based on its variables.  Instead, the formula is printed, e.g. {x} + {y} = {(z}}.

  1. At the top of the screen, select Print HTML to print the assessment using your default printer.
  2. Or select Download PDF to save the page as a PDF document.
