How do I notify site participants or receive notification that content has been added to File Drop?
Instructors or site administrators can enable an option that allows them to notify students or members when uploading content to their individual folder in the File Drop tool. This option will also allow students or members to check a box to send email notifications to their instructor(s) or site administrator(s) when uploading items.
Note: Choosing not to allow email notifications will not prevent you from sending email notifications when uploading the same file to multiple students' or members' File Drop folders simultaneously.
The default notifications option is Do not allow email notifications to be sent. To enable email notifications:
- Choose one of the following options:
- Select Always Send Email Notifications to always automatically send email notifications.
- Select Allow email notifications to be sent to give site participants the option to send email notifications.
- Select Update.
The process of adding items to an individual File Drop folder is the same as adding them in the Resources tool. See the following article for more information: How do I upload files to Resources or File Drop?
In a course site, to notify a student that new content has been added to their File Drop folder, select Send an email notification to the student. When email notifications are enabled, students who upload files will have the option to Send an email notification to the instructor(s).
In a collaboration site, the option to notify a member of new content in their File Drop folder is Send an email notification to the user. Similarly, site members will have the option to Send an email notification to the site maintainer(s).
Note: If Always Send Email Notifications is selected in Options, site participants will not have the option to enable or disable an email notification.
