How do I add an external tool to a page in Lessons?

Site administrators can add links to some external tools, such as VoiceThread and Confluence Wiki, on a page in Lessons. This allows editors to seamlessly incorporate content from third party applications within the site.

Note: If you are trying to add content from VoiceThread, MATLab, or Gradescope to a page, see the tool-specific articles below.

Go to Lessons.

Select the Title of the page (e.g., Lessons, Activities, Week: 1) from the tool menu in your site.

Select Add External Tool.

In the window that pops up, select Add External Tool

Select a tool from the list that appears.

To add a tool to the page, select the tool title.

Configure the settings for the external tool.

A window will appear with various options to set for the tool. Adjust these options according to your preferences.

  1. Tool Title: This will be the link text on your page.
  2. Button Text: Use the same text from the Tool Title field.
  3. Launch in Popup: Check this box if you would like the tool to launch in a new browser tab.

Note: Each tool may show different options than those in the example above. You may not be asked to enter button text, to select a custom icon, or to choose if a tool launches in a popup.

Select Save.

Select the Save button at the bottom of the window.

View the link.

The link to the tool will be added after any existing content on the page.
