How do I upload hidden files in Resources?

Site administrators can designate files as hidden during the uploading process in Resources. This will make the files hidden from students or non-administrators from the time that they are uploaded until their visibility settings are changed. This can be useful when you want to make sure that site participants cannot see a file until you make it visible.

Note: Instructors, Secondary Instructors, and Teaching Assistants in course sites and Owners and Administrators in collaboration sites can see hidden files in Resources by default. Check your site permissions to see who will be able to view hidden files and folders in Resources.

Go to Resources.

Select the Resources tool from the tool menu of your site.

Select Actions, then Upload Files.

  1. To the right of the Resources folder where you would like to upload the file(s), select the Actions menu.
  2. Select Upload Files.

Note: On mobile devices or small screens, the Actions menu displays as a down arrow icon.

Drag and drop files to upload or select to choose files.

Drag files from your computer and drop them into the Drop files to upload box, or click anywhere in the box to choose files from your computer.

Select the Hidden availability setting, then Continue.

  1. Below the upload area, select Hidden as the availability setting.
  2. Select Continue.

View the hidden files.

The files are placed within the selected folder. The file names are in italics to indicate that they are hidden from students or non-administrators.
