How do I make a Resources file or folder publicly viewable?
Site owners can make a file or folder publicly viewable. This means that the file or folder can be viewed by anyone with the file or folder's URL. The file or folder can be accessed by those who are not site participants, as well as individuals who do not have accounts in UVACollab.
If you store files in your Home site's My Resources, you can make them publicly viewable to share them with others.
Note: Be careful to review copyright restrictions on materials before making them publicly viewable. Visit the UVA Library: Copyright and Scholarly Communications Resources (opens new window) for more information about web publishing and copyright.
- To the right of the Resources file or folder that you would like to make publicly viewable, select the Actions menu.
- Select Edit Details.
Note: On mobile devices or small screens, the Actions menu displays as a down arrow icon.
Under Availability and Access, select the checkbox for This file is publicly viewable or This folder and its contents are publicly viewable (depending on whether you have selected a file or folder).
Note: Making a folder publicly viewable will also provide public access to all subfolders and files within it.
