How do I publish a calendar so that users can subscribe to it?
You can publish the calendar in your site so that others can subscribe to it and view its events in the calendar program of their choice. There are two ways to publish a calendar:
- Publish a calendar publicly. You select the calendar name and the published calendar is accessible to anyone using the URL.
- Publish a calendar privately. The system creates a complex URL for the published calendar to prevent unauthorized users from accessing it.
Publish a calendar publicly.
Go to Calendar.
Select the Calendar tool in the tool menu in your site.
Select Publish (public).
Select Publish (public) in the menu bar near the top of the page.
Enter a name for the calendar, and select Enable Subscription.
Enter a name for the calendar in the Calendar Name field, and select Enable Subscription.
Select Save.
Select Save to confirm your changes.
Copy and paste the public subscription URL.
Copy the public subscription URL and paste it into your calendar program (Outlook, Calendar, Google Calendar, etc.) or share it with your site participants.
Publish a calendar privately.
Go to Calendar.
Select the Calendar tool in the tool menu in your site.
Select Publish (private).
Select Publish (private) in the menu bar near the top of the page.
Select Generate.
Select Generate to generate the URLs for the calendar subscription.
Select or copy the private subscription URL.
Two URLs are generated and available for use:
- If you have configured your web browser to open webcals URLs in your calendar program (Outlook, Calendar, Google Calendar, etc.), you can click on the webcals URL to add the calendar to your calendar program.
- Alternatively, copy the private subscription URL and paste it into your calendar program or share it with your site participants.
