How do I change the calendar view?

In Calendar, you can view your calendar by day, week, month, or year, or as a list of events. You can also set the default view for your calendar.

Go to Calendar.

Select Calendar from the tool menu of your site.

Select the desired view in the drop-down menu.

From the View dropdown menu, choose to view the calendar by Day, Week, Month, Year, or as a List of Events.

Calendar by day.

Each event's Title will display, highlighted to indicate the block of time it takes up (e.g. an event that lasts from 4 PM to 5 PM will show a highlighted area between 4 and 5 PM.)  You can click the Title to view details of the event.

An icon is shown in front of the event Title to indicate the type of event (e.g. a clock icon displays for a Meeting).  A Legend below the calendar view describes the icons.

If an event in the calendar was created in the Sign-Up tool, it will indicate in parentheses how many attendees have signed up for the event (e.g. Sign up on two sites (2 attendees)).

Calendar by week.

Each event's Title will display, with the calendar highlighted to indicate the block of time it takes up (e.g. an event that lasts from 4 PM to 5 PM on Monday, October 23rd will show a highlighted area between 4 and 5 PM in the Mon 23 column.)  You can click the Title to view details of the event.

Calendar by month.

A listing of each event's Title will display on the day when that event takes place. If the Title is too long to display in its entirety, it will be abbreviated.  If you hover your mouse over an abbreviated Title, you will see the full Title).  You can click the Title to view details of the event.

The day when any event takes place will be highlighted. (e.g. if there is an event on Monday, October 23rd, that day on the calendar will be highlighted.)

Calendar by year.

The calendar will display each month as a separate, small calendar on the page.  Any days on which events take place are highlighted (e.g. if any event takes place on Monday, October 23rd, that day on the calendar will be highlighted.)

You can click on a date's number to view the calendar by day.

List of events.

A list of events that take place in a specified range of dates will display.  Options include:

  • Future events
  • All events - This displays all events on the calendar in the site where you are located.  In Home, this list will include events from all sites.
  • Events for today
  • Events for this week
  • Events for this month
  • Events for this year
  • Custom date range - Select a Start and End date and click Filter Events to specify custom dates.

If you are in a site where groups have been created, or where there is at least one course roster added, you can also filter your calendar's List view to Display group events, and select specific groups to whom an event has been released, rather than events for the entire site (i.e. Display site events).

Set default view of calendar.

If you have a preferred view (e.g. monthly view), select Set as Default View while viewing the calendar in your preferred view.
