How do I copy questions to an assessment from a question pool?

If you have saved some questions to a question pool, you can copy them to an assessment to specify different point values for each question and the order in which the questions appear.

For more information about question pools, see What is a question pool?

Note: If your pool contains questions that all test the same knowledge, but with different wording or examples, you can create an assessment with questions selected randomly from the pool, as described in How do I set up a random question set?

Go to Tests & Quizzes.

Select the Tests & Quizzes tool from the Tool Menu of your site.

Select an assessment.

A question may be copied from a question pool into any assessment. Select an existing assessment or create a new one.

Create a new assessment.

Create from Scratch with assessment builder selected

For more information on creating new assessments, see How do I create an assessment?

Or edit an existing assessment.

Select Edit from the Action drop-down menu for the assessment.

Note: Assessment editing must take place in the Working Copies tab or in the Published Copies tab before anyone accesses the assessment to take it.

From the Add Question menu, select Copy from Question Pool.

Select a question pool.

Select the name of the pool or subpool from which to copy questions.

Note: To reveal existing subpools within a question pool or a higher-level subpool, select the arrow icon (Show/Hide Subpools) next to the pool's or higher-level subpool's name.

Select the question(s).

In the Copy? column, check the corresponding box(es) for the question(s) to copy.  You can either:

  1. Check the Select all box at the  top of the column,
  2. OR check a box to the right of a specific question.

Select Copy.

At the bottom of the screen, select Copy.

Note: If your assessment has multiple parts, you may use the Assign to Part drop-down menu to add the question(s) to a specific part.
